God Voted?! Post-Election Thoughts

Greetings, all.

Well, the election is finally over, and some are mad and some are glad. Now the transition to governing begins.

Here are some thoughts for the people, and the politicians. I’ll leave the so-called “prophets and prophecies” I have received for another time.

Please read and think about these ultimate truths carefully. They should give you peace and assurance that everything is under God’s control, and He was not surprised by the outcome of the recent election.

These following verses get into the realm of individual free will and the ultimate sovereign will of God and His eternal purposes, which we don’t always understand but must trust. (All emphasis is mine.)

God votes!

  • First: “Cast your votes but God has the final say” (Proverbs 16:33).
  • People are urged to “Obey the government, for God is the one who put it there. All governments have been placed in power by God” (Romans 13:1).
  • “For no one on earth – from east or west can raise another person up. It is God alone who judges; He decides who will rise and who will fall” (Psalm 75:6-7).
  • “Because of Me, kings (all rulers) reign, and rulers make just laws. Rulers lead with My help, and nobles make righteous judgments” (Proverbs 8.15-16).

Hence, some good reasons to pray for those in authority:

“Pray for kings (presidents) and all others who are in authority, so that we can live in peace and quietness. In godliness and dignity” (1 Timothy 2:2).

Various dictators and demagogues are examples of leaders and nations that have few of these characteristics.

And if you don’t agree with a government’s policies:

Please note all Clinton, Bush, McCain, Obama bashers!

  • “Never make light of the king (President), even in your thoughts…A little bird may tell them what you have said...” (Ecclesiastes 10:20).
  • “Do not speak evil of anyone who rules over you” (Acts 23:5).
  • “For the Lord’s sake, accept all authority – the king as head of state, and the officials He has appointed” (1 Peter 2.13).
  • “Honor the king (President, etc.) (1 Peter 2:17).

One can honor the office without agreeing with the office holder.

Leaders and policies can be changed:

If you don’t agree with a leaders policies or positions, they can be changed:

  • “The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; He turns it wherever He pleases” (Proverbs 21:1).

And here is a prayer if you want to see change in leadership:

  • “Let his days be few, and let another take his office!” (Psalm 109:8)

All rulers are ultimately accountable to God; whether they, or the nation, believe it or not.

  • “Now then, you kings(presidents, congressmen, governors, mayors, etc.) act wisely! Be warned, you rulers of the earth! Serve the Lord with reverent fear, and rejoice with trembling. Submit to God’s royal son, or He will become angry…” (Psalm 2:10-12).
  • “He that rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God” (2 Samuel 23:3).

And finally, be assured, God puts term limits on leaders:

He determines the course of world events. He removes kings and sets others on the throne” (Daniel 2:21).

God votes again!

P.S. On a personal note: Thank you all for praying for my wife, Nedra. She is currently in bed. Her heart is back in rhythm, but the dizziness (vertigo) continues, with some accompanying nausea. So far no explanation or diagnosis from the doctors as to the root cause.

We pray and press on, and I’ll keep you updated.

Thanks again,

Scott Ross

# RE: God Voted?! Post-Election Thoughts

How many of America's sons have died on a lonely battlefield, not having lived long enough to know life, and all of it's joys and sadnesses, just coming out of high school, or college, and having no direction, our sons and daughters have willingly sacrificed their lives to defend the country that they barely know in their young years. Family will shed tears on their loss, but the world as a whole will take no notice of their short, but dedicated life.

I think that we owe our sons and daughters more than a celebration day, which mostly is a day of picnics, cookouts, a day on the lake, just a day off that came at the expense and life of a brave soldier, be it man or woman. what do we owe them?

We owe them respect for their sacrifice, the ultimate sacrifice. we owe them a dedication to preserve and maintain the freedoms that they died to defend. are we paying what we owe? no we are not. we are slowly and gradually giving up these freedoms for trinkets, What is the final end to giving u
